Cracow is a city steeped in hundreds of years of history. During the Second World War, it became the scene of many horrifying events, but also witnessed numerous heroic deeds. We invite all of you who would like to get to know about this part of the city’s history to seize the opportunity to go back in time to the years of Nazi occupation.
The tour begins in front of the former administrative office of Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory at 4 Lipowa street. Guided by a professional tour guide, the tourists will be offered an opportunity to see the “Krakow under Nazi Occupation 1939–1945” exhibition. The exhibition will be the last stop before a short break. The next part of the itinerary includes a visit to the Pod Orłem pharmacy run by Tadeusz Pankiewicz – an eyewitness to the tragic events that happened in the Jewish district. As the last part of the tour, the tourists will receive tickets to the Pomorska Street Museum, where the Gestapo was headquartered.

The main theme of the exhibition in Oscar Schindler’s Museum is travel in time: theatrical reconstructions of the authentic city space are juxtaposed with sculptural installations metaphorically embracing the city’s wartime history. The narrative combines photographs, film documentaries and multimedia presentations. Since the Museum is housed in former Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory, the visitors will learn the story of this extraordinarily brave man who saved the lives of hundreds of people during the war. Next, the tourists will visit the Pod Orłem pharmacy. This is where the history of the Krakow Ghetto and of the difficult living conditions people faced there will be presented. The exhibition scenario was inspired by the pharmacy owner’s diaries. The personal nature of the diaries allows the visitors to feel a strong bond with the persecuted inhabitants of Krakow and learn how Tadeusz Pankiewicz tried to help them. The last stop – to be visited by the tourists on their own – is the Pomorska Street Museum. The “People of Kraków in Times of Terror 1939-1945-1956” exhibition presents the preserved cells where the prisoners were interrogated and tortured. The tickets can be used within 7 days of the visit in Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory and the Pod Orłem pharmacy.
