From a historical point of view, the Kurozweki Palace is the perfect representation of a building that has been sculpted by six hundred tumultuous years of Polish history. Its baroque-renaissance facade and the medieval fortifications form an interesting contrast and its inner two floor asymmetric cloisters, somewhat resembling the Wawel Castle in Cracow, are very rare unusual architectural stylizations. The medieval feel from the rear and the baroque-renaissance facade are two experiences not seen every day. Many things will catch your eye walking up and down the palace. Paintings of previous owners and local political figures painted by various artists, frescos in the palace chapel dating back to the 18th century, the terrace, the ball room and, of course, the dungeons.
The Popiel Family Collection is composed of paintings, objects d’art and family mementos which survived the ravages of World War II and depredations of Communism.
The most important exhibit is undoubtedly the Quattrocento Madonna and Child by the Viterbo painter, Francesco d’Antonio Zacchi, known as il Balletta.
The collection of the Jozef Czapski Gallery includes a collections of his oil paintings and sketches.

The English style park includes large oak and sycamore trees which tower over the children’s playground designed by the Cracow academy of fine arts. Also a nearby tennis, mini football and sand volleyball court can be found in the park.
THE BISON HERD
Another touch which makes Kurozwęki unique is its American bison herd. The only one in Poland, they roam around the palace estate, filling the field with their imposing and majestic appearance. The Kurozwęki bison herd consists of American plain bison. No one has ever managed to tame one of these so to this day they remain completely wild.
THE STUD FARM
Today an Arabian stud farm is situated close by Kurozwęki, in neighbouring Kotuszów. Arabian horses are noble blood horses and belong to one of the most beautiful races. Today the Kurozwęki stud farm houses approximately 50 pure blood Arabians.
The Palace’s restaurant specializes in traditional Polish cuisine and bison dishes. All the dishes are prepared from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, which include our own bison meat.
