The Dunajec River Gorge is undeniably one of the most scenic river rafting routes in Europe. The raft crossing attracts great interest and takes place in a park boasting one of the most enrapturing landscapes – the Pieniny National Park.
After arriving in Sromowce Wyżne-Kąty, the tourists will join other participants of the trip. The river gorge is crossed on traditional wooden rafts, the construction of which has remained unchanged for over 200 years. To this day, the reliability of their structure is an incredible curiosity. The rafting trips break attendance records year after year – in one season, the Dunajec river is crossed by over 250 thousand tourists! The awe-inspiring beauty of nature unchanged for millennia, serenity, harmony and the panorama of the Tatra mountains make up only a fraction of the landscapes the participants of the trip will be able to admire and remember for long.

1. This is a private tour (organised on request)
2. Tour duration: 7–8 hours
3. River rafting is a group event.
4. The Dunajec River Gorge is located within the mountainous Pieniny National Park, where the air temperature is usually lower than in Kraków, and the weather can change rapidly. Therefore, the participants are required to bring warm, waterproof clothing (e.g. sweaters, jackets, umbrellas) and sun-protective items (e.g. hats, caps, sunglasses).
5. In case of unfavourable hydrological conditions, the tour may be cancelled.
One raft can accommodate a group of up to 10 people, lead by two raftsmen – a foreman at the front and an assistant at the back of the raft. The raft is propelled with long, wooden poles the ratfsmen jam against the river bed. The expertise of the polers is truly impressive, if only for the fact that the river may be up to 18 metres deep.
During the 2 hours and 15 minutes of the raft trip, the participants will have an opportunity to see, among other things, 14th-century Červený Kláštor on the Slovak side. Rafters are also impressed by rugged limestone rocks reaching even 500 m in height above the water surface. The highlight of the trip, however, is a view on the most famous summits of the Pieniny Mountains, namely Sokolica and Trzy Korony. The most popular route of the raft trip down the Dunajec river ends in the town of Szczawnica – one of the oldest Polish health resorts. The participants will have about 1 hour of free time and then return to Krakow.
