Visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum
Join a guided Auschwitz-Birkenau tour from Krakow and gain a deeper understanding of one of the darkest chapters of European history. During this guided visit, you will explore the permanent exhibition, original camp buildings at Auschwitz I and the most important sites at Birkenau.
History of Auschwitz-Birkenau
The Auschwitz camp complex became the largest Nazi concentration camp and extermination center. Today, the preserved grounds and exhibitions commemorate the victims and provide essential historical context for understanding the Holocaust and the system of persecution, deportation and mass extermination carried out during the Nazi occupation.
Your museum-certified guide
Throughout the visit, you will be accompanied by a museum-certified guide, who will explain the history of the camp, the purpose of the buildings and the events connected with the places you see. The guide’s commentary helps connect historical facts with the experiences of the people imprisoned and murdered there, making the visit more informative and meaningful.
Auschwitz-Birkenau tour duration
The visit to Auschwitz I takes approximately 2 hours and includes the permanent exhibition and original camp buildings. You will then continue to Birkenau for an approximately 1-hour visit to the most important parts of the former camp. Together with transportation from and back to Krakow, the entire tour lasts around 7–8 hours.
