Visit Oskar Schindler’s Factory
Step inside Oskar Schindler’s former enamel factory, today a museum chronicling Krakow under Nazi occupation from 1939 to 1945. A licensed guide leads you through the original administrative building, sharing stories of the people who worked here.
Krakow’s main exhibition, “Krakow under Nazi Occupation 1939–1945” covers Krakow’s people through that period. Your guide connects exhibits to real events, showing how those years reshaped daily life.
Authentic photographs, documents, films and original objects are combined with recreated streets, interiors, even a reconstructed tram, marked “Nur für Deutsche” (Germans only) and a fragment of the ghetto wall built in the shape of Jewish tombstones.
Oskar Schindler’s story is central to this history. He employed Jewish workers in his factory, helping save many of their lives during the Holocaust. His actions later inspired Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film Schindler’s List.
On the tour, you’ll learn about persecution of Krakow’s Jewish community, everyday life under occupation, and how Schindler protected his workers. Your guide connects personal stories, historical events and exhibits, helping you see how it all shaped Krakow and its people.
The guide walks you through spaces like Schindler’s own office and the reconstructed Płaszów camp barrack, connecting each one to what actually happened there.
